“Flash Art Mob Don’t Blink”
Art show at In a Flash Gallery
|Featuring a treasure chest/tackle box filled with “relics” of male spirituality, and a sort of “family tree” made from a real tree and other bits of treasure/junk. All three pieces are whimsical, semi-autobiographical abstract/mixed-media pieces created this summer and fall, using both natural and man-made made materials. Also featuring, on Oct. 18, the spoken word of William Hillman, Enid Maldonado, *Mark Nielsen* and Patrick Waldron. Performances begin after 8pm.
The show is at a gallery (my friend Mark’s storefront) in the Pilsen neighborhood of near-southwest Chicago. I will most likely display them later at home or in other limited settings (unless they sell this week) –or post photos and the performance poem on the web at my blog — but the gallery show is effectively the “premiere” of both the sculptures and the poem. Plus other artists’ work (paintings, photos, collages, etc.) will be there to see, so you can support the youngsters, too.
The show only lasts a week, so if you’re going to come, best times would be Sat. Oct. 18 (closing night), or the previous Thursday night (Oct. 16) after 7pm, when I will be staffing the gallery space alone.
